Planora – Privacy Policy
Effective date: April 28, 2026
Planora (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application. Please read it carefully. By using the app, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
- Account information: When you register, we collect your username, display name, and email address.
- Authentication credentials: Passwords are hashed server-side and never stored in plain text. Your session token is stored securely on your device using encrypted storage.
- Trip and travel data: Information you enter about trips, activities, itineraries, checklists, and cost-sharing arrangements.
- Travel documents: Files (e.g., PDFs, images) you upload as travel documents. These are stored securely and accessible only by you.
- Location data: The app uses Google Maps to display maps and activity locations. We do not continuously track or store your precise GPS location.
- Device information: Basic device information (e.g., operating system version) may be collected for troubleshooting and app compatibility purposes.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Planora service.
- Authenticate your identity and secure your account.
- Enable trip planning features, including AI-assisted itinerary suggestions.
- Store and retrieve your travel documents on your behalf.
- Improve app functionality and fix bugs based on usage patterns.
- Respond to your support requests and communicate important updates.
3. AI-Assisted Features
Planora offers optional AI-powered trip planning. When you use these features, your trip details (destination, dates, preferences) are sent to our AI service provider (Mistral AI) to generate suggestions. We do not share personally identifying information (such as your name or email) with AI providers. AI-generated content is advisory only.
4. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers: Trusted third-party vendors who assist in operating our infrastructure (e.g., cloud hosting, file storage via Amazon S3). These providers are contractually obligated to keep your data confidential.
- Legal obligations: We may disclose your information if required by law or in response to valid legal process (e.g., a court order or government request).
- Safety: We may share information when necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Planora, our users, or the public.
5. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on secure servers. We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS/HTTPS) and at rest. Session tokens on your device are stored in encrypted secure storage. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us (see Section 11). Uploaded travel documents are deleted when you remove them from the app or upon account deletion.
7. Biometric Authentication
If you enable biometric authentication (fingerprint or face recognition), this feature is handled entirely by your device’s operating system. Planora does not collect, store, or transmit any biometric data.
8. Children’s Privacy
Planora is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately so we can delete it.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: Request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data and account.
- Portability: Request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Objection: Object to certain types of data processing.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the information in Section 11.
